It’s happening again – The Greatest Safari on Earth 2022

It’s hard to believe that it’s already two months since our triumphant return from The Greatest Safari on Earth – ROAR AFRICA’s inaugural Emirates Executive Private Jet Safari, and the first of its kind in the world. 

Little did I know, when I conceived this trip two years ago, that this pioneering journey would require my team to navigate above and beyond the levels of seamless precision ROAR AFRICA is known for. Nor that it would leave such a profound legacy of positivity and hope for those on the ground, who for 18 months had waited so patiently and eagerly for our return to travel. I also could never have imagined being blessed with such an exceptional group of guests with whom to travel, for they have shown me how travel fast-tracks and cements friendships for life.

It's only now that I can retrospectively laugh at my boldness in naming it “The Greatest Safari on Earth”. For the name not only stuck but came to define the curation of a formidable journey that answered the yearning of 10 pioneering guests whose desire to experience “all” of Africa in one fell swoop felt – in the midst of a pandemic – like a call to arms. The resulting journey that took us effortlessly from Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls to Botswana’s Okavango Delta, Kenya’s Masai Mara and the gorillas of Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park is all the more remarkable given its timing, when the world was all but closed to travel.

The best of the very best in Africa

So, with pride, enormous excitement and positivity, I am thrilled to announce that our second Greatest Safari on Earth on the Emirates Executive Private Jet will take place from August 26 to September 7, 2022 (for which we are already nearly sold out) and again in 2023.

Created for just five couples (or 10 individuals) who want to go “beyond first class”, our journey will once more begin in Dubai where we will board the sumptuous Emirates A319 private jet for a 12-day sojourn designed to deliver the ultimate in wonder and adventure. Originally designed to hold 124 passengers, the customized jet will transport us in absolute luxury, complete with private cabins and the full use of an expansive communal lounge and dining area with an incredible menu and a showstopper wine list. 

Upon landing in each country, guests will transfer by private helicopter to my personal selection of lodges in each location; Matetsi Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, Xigera Safari Lodge in Botswana, Angama Mara in Kenya and Singita Kwitonda Lodge in Rwanda. The best of the very best in Africa.

Transcending the everyday  

Every aspect of our journey is designed to ensure that we take you to those places where humans remain outsiders and where you will have the opportunity to rediscover and redefine what it means to reconnect with nature. I will share with you the Africa that I know and love, with unique insights into my home country and the individuals who raised me and whose values define me – my people, along with the best safari guides and lodge owners in Africa. As with this year’s trip, the journey will be completely offset with all funding going back into projects on the ground in Africa.

In the 15 years since I launched ROAR AFRICA, I have borne witness to the ways in which travel can recalibrate the hearts, minds and vision of those on the ground as well as the consciousness of travelers. For only when an experience is designed with this level of intricate detail, care and emotional intelligence, is one able to transcend one’s everyday existence and confront what it really means to be wild.

And in times like these, when so many of us ache for the wild and long to explore a deeper, more sustainable way of being, ROAR AFRICA removes the uncertainty and chaos of travel so that you can go wilder, dream bigger and rediscover your innate and instinctive sense of adventure. Our promise to you? That you will return home rested, inspired and with a full heart.

As my friend and author Alexandra Fuller said in conversation with me yesterday: “To answer the call of the wild with a tamed spirit is to court death. While not answering the call of the wild with a wild spirit is to die of loneliness. Life is wild."
